About The Designers
In the Fall of 2003, Strike Daekins™ was created by two sisters,
and is currently still owned and operated by the two: Meaghan and Brynn.
The two have been immersed in their passion of unique costuming,
and Celtic lore & Medieval times from a very early age.
They then decided that something needed to be
done to combine these two passions of Lore and Costuming.
The idea of creating a Renaissance garb company
began to be batted back and forth. Finally, from their vivid
imaginations, sprung what you now know as, Designs by Strike Daekins.
The meaning behind this phrase has both historical and (more personally)
family meaning to us, and is not just a random name. We are of Norse
decent, and this was part of our family's ancient battle cry.
The full phrase being: “Strike Daekins, the Devil’s in the Hemp!”
Over the centuries, the name became respelled, moving the
ae to ea, thus being now pronounced "Deekins" instead of "Daykins".
So there you have it!
A brief history of the significance and meaning behind our name
Since the inception of the business, much has evolved,
as
time will always guaruntee.
In the summer of 2007, Meaghan was married!
The close-knit sisters no longer opperate from the same home these days,
but they are still dedicated to eachother
and business,
their craft, and the quality thereof.
They have sinced added some special people into the fray, such as Eddie, (Meaghan's husband),
who designs and crafts one-of-a-kind drums and hopefully Sarah,
(Meaghan's step-daughter) as another designer and seamstress.
